When you are looking for jobs for 17 year olds you are competing with older workers now than before this financial crisis. Older teens can do most any job but so many people with families have lost their jobs that they need any kind of work they can get. This means older and experienced workers are routinely now taking jobs that they would have never dreamed of taking a year ago. Now they are taking the jobs that once were largely done by teenagers.
